clearly Gwindor. the man had his whole life demolished and didn’t even get poetic resolution about it. he was slowly broken apart and left behind so that the narrator could tell the story of someone much cooler’s much more beautiful suffering. I think that’s much more interesting

in the tolkien fandom u have to be rlly careful when u talk abt the silmarillion bcs like if i just say “oh yeah i read it” ill get bombarded with comments of ppl talking abt heracarthanician or cilibrieous and shit when in actuality i retained absolutely none of the information in the book. like bro. i know there was a demigoddess a dog an oath some gods and a great but tragic red haired warrior elf but thats it, please stop asking about my opinion of the high elf fucksilor in the 46th chapter and how his character that only appeared in one paragraph changed the entire course of the book. i dont know these things

Maedhros rebuilt his entire life on already unsteady ground after he was rescued from the clutches of the Dark Foe…heavily scarred but very much alive. Maedhros struggled to remove the corruption he felt within him while leading armies and negotiating between his people and others, struggled to hold the tide of memories of chains and cold and the bleak light of the crown of stolen jewels as he goes about his ever mounting duties. His quest for revenge is ruthless, coordinated, and at times contained by the wisdom of his councilors or even kin but it is never impersonal

This post Angband board is one of my very favorite visual Maedhros pieces I’ve done so I wanted to redo it to a, make sure images from non free sources were properly credited and b, edit and add some things!

I’ve talked and thought a lot about snow leopards as symbols and guardians of Himring; beautiful but heavily guarded and deadly.

Maedhros in Angband is perhaps my favorite but brutal, ruthless and traumatized warlord Maedhros in Himring is such a close second
